Inspired by the world’s most famous canine, McGruff the Crime Dog, The Crime Museum would like to recognize one special dog for its efforts in protecting and serving our community in its annual TOP DOG contest. Whether it be protecting the sofa from any fallen crumbs or keeping the grass fertilized, we want to showcase your special pooch.

Now accepting 2015 entries!

Contest:

Does your dog take pride in patrolling the backyard for any intruders? Does your dog guard his/her chew bones with unbelievable intensity? We want to see how your “canine cop” works, whether in the home, on daily walks or anywhere else! We are not necessarily looking for actual police or security dogs. We are looking for a dog that protects and serves in their own way. We believe that all dogs help protect and serve our homes and communities, so please send us a photo showing us how your beloved pooch serves his/her role!

Creativity and props are encouraged, but please make sure all submissions are family-friendly. Keep in mind that the Crime Museum does not tolerate any animal cruelty. Any photos exhibiting a dog in a compromising or dangerous situation will not be accepted.

We will select one lucky dog to be the LIVE DOG MASCOT of the Crime Museum for the ENTIRE YEAR! Please visit CONTEST RULES for more information.

Who is eligible?

Any dog whose owners are local to the DC Metropolitan Area and who are legal residents of the United States, please see contest rules on entry form for more details. Note: no travel costs will be awarded to the winner. It becomes the winner’s responsibility to get to and from the Crime Museum for the parade appearances.

Winner will receive:

  • A featured spot on The Crime Museum website, Facebook page, and monthly e-newsletter.
  • An annual family pass to the museum, including your potty trained canine, which grants up to four family members unlimited admission to the museum for one full year.
  • The opportunity to walk with your pup in Washington, D.C. annual Independence Day Parade on July 4th.
