Bones 1Bones is an American crime comedy-drama television series created by Hart Hanson, and is loosely based on the life of a novelist and forensic anthropologist, Kathy Reichs who was also a producer for the show. Bones originally premiered on on September 13, 2005, on Fox, and the final episode aired on March 28, 2017. The series is comprised of 246 episodes spread out over twelve seasons.

The main character is Dr. Temperance “Bones” Brennan, played by Emily Deschanel. Brennan is a forensic anthropologist, that works at the Jeffersonian Institute (a fictional research institute) and also writes crime fiction novels. She has an uncanny ability to read clues left behind in a victim’s bones. Therefore Brennan gets called in to help with murder investigations when the remains are so destroyed that the normal identification methods won’t work. Brennan gets teamed with a former Army sniper, Special Agent Seeley Booth, played by David Boreanaz. Although they are polar opposites, their chemistry grows throughout the series. The series also starred Michaela Conlin as Angela Montenegro, a forensic artist and Eric Millegan as Dr. Zack Addy, who started out as Dr. Brennan’s graduate student/intern.

Bones won the ASCAP Award at the ASCAP Film and Television Music Awards in 2009 and 2013 as well as the BMI TV Music Award in 2009 and 2013. During the show’s lifetime it received eight wins and 42 nominations.
