Ismael Zambada Garcia, also known as El Mayo, is noted as the boss of the Sinaloa drug cartel after Joaquin Guzman was captured by authorities. The cartel exports cocaine and heroin into Chicago and other U.S. cities by means of train, ship, jet, and submarine.
Zambada was born in 1948 and worked as a farmer before he became a drug lord working with Joaquin Guzman, also known as El Chapo. The US has put a $5 million reward out for the capture of Zambada. Despite this, he has evaded capture. In his one and only infamous interview, he noted that he would kill himself if arrested.
Zambada is married to a woman named Rosario Niebla, and he has seven children. Unlike his counterpart, Guzman, Zambada is noted as a much quieter and more modest personality, perhaps explaining why he has evaded capture for so long.
The Sinaloa cartel is reported to handle more than $3 billion dollars in drug revenue from the 25 to 45 percent of illegal drug smuggling it deals with in the United States.
