Michael M. Baden- TWA 800 Dr. Michael Baden is a board certified pathologist. Dr. Baden currently works in the Medico legal investigation unit of the New York Police serving as co- director. As well as working with the New York Police, Dr. Baden also has his own private practice.

Before getting to where he is today Dr. Baden graduated from the City College of New York and New York University Medical School. After graduating in 1959 from medical school Dr. Baden interned at hospitals until 1961 when he got a job working in the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in New York City. He was at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner until 1981 and held the position of Chief Medical examiner from 1978 to 1979. After Dr. Baden left the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner he got a job as Deputy Chief Medical Examiner for Suffolk County. Dr. Baden stayed in this position until 1983. Dr. Baden has also worked with the New York State Police Child Abuse and Violent Crime Analysis Unit (VICAP), served as the President of the Society of Medical Jurisprudence and Vice President of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and was the Chairman of the Forensic Pathology Panel of the U.S. Congress Select Committee. This committee investigated the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr.

As well as these positions, Dr. Baden has held professorial positions at Albert Einstein Medical School, Albany Medical College, New York Law School and John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Dr. Baden has also lectured at many different universities over the course of his career. Dr. Baden has been an expert witness to many cases for the defense, such as the O.J Simpson case and was an expert witness for the prosecution in the case State of Nevada v. Tabish and Murphy. Dr. Baden was also an expert pathologist for many international cases such as TWA Flight 800. He also re-examined the Lindbergh kidnapping and murder.

During Dr. Baden’s career he has published multiple medical journals, both national and international, and he has published books including: Unnatural Death: Confessions of a Medical Examiner, Dead Reckoning: The New Science of Catching Killers, and Remains Silent. The first three books that Dr. Baden published are factual accounts of some of his cases. Remains Silent is a forensic novel that he co-wrote with his wife Linda Kenney Baden, who is an attorney. Dr. Baden has also appeared on HBO numerous times and is the host of the TV show Autopsy.
